REVIEW – The Bubble Laboratory – The Adventure Bubble Show with Milkshake

RATING: 5/5

THE Edinburgh Fringe welcomes back kid-friendly co-hosts Bubble Laboratory for what is a truly chaotic collaboration in their Adventure Bubble Show.

After playing sold-out shows for two years in Australia, the duo return for what can only be described as a flawlessly charming and wonderfully pure hour of fun.

Weaving a story of friendship through the art of bubbles, it’s near impossible for adults to not be as equally impressed as the kids will be with the spectacle on show.

The performance is mostly non-verbal, meaning both Edinburgh locals or tourists from across the world can enjoy it in equal measure.

Watch on as Dr Bubbles starts his morning routine, same as any other day, with the slight exception of his puppet, Milkshake, springing to life.

Hilarity ensures between the two, as they squabble and scrap in classic slapstick fashion, before realising the friendship at stake and settling their differences.

What follows are the most amazing bubble displays, as the pair clown around on stage, with a healthy dose of mischief and mess across the board.

The story is primarily told through the medium of, well, bubbles.

These bubbles come in a vast array of soapy shapes and sizes, including bewildering bubble puppets, bubbles of both shadow and light, and an awe-inspiring million bubble finale.

Children of all ages will fall in love with the interactivity the show has to offer, whilst adults will be surprisingly amused with some of the tricks on display.

It feels like the duo has everyone on the edge of their seats throughout the runtime, as the audience is left baffled as to what could possibly happen next.

There is something about bubbles that brings out the inner child in any adult, and that’s certainly proved true here.

It’s a guarantee that your kids will love it, and a sure bet that you’ll leave equally impressed too.
