A SHOCKING video shows an “intoxicated” Ryanair passenger being restrained by seven people mid-flight whilst shouting and swearing as distressed children cry.
At least five passengers came to assist the air hosts in containing the allegedly drunken man amid the flight from London Luton to Kaunas, Lithuania on Saturday.
The passenger was promptly detained by Lithuanian police when the flight touched down after the altercation which was allegedly triggered by hosts requesting that he stopped drinking alcohol.
Video shows the rowdy passenger, who is wearing a vest top, leaning into the row behind where he is aggressively shouting at another passenger who is travelling with his young child.
One man, allegedly his father, tries to hold him back as he continues to speak to the passenger in a threatening tone.
The aggressive traveler can then be seen being confronted by two members of the cabin crew standing in the middle aisle.
The man looks unsteady on his feet and tries to navigate the narrow gap from his window seat towards the aisle but is gently restrained by the employee who tries to calm him.
As the situation escalates the man can be heard screaming: “I don’t f**g care who the f*k you are.
“I don’t f*****g want you to touch me.”
The man then begins to lash out towards a group of passengers who have gathered to try and calm him down.
Having finally had enough, the group of passengers and hosts swarm the man to restrain him.
Two hosts approach him from the aisle behind where they wrap their arms around him in an attempt to hold him down.
He then disappears from sight as the group continue to wrestle him.
Speaking today, one passenger who wished to remain anonymous said: “The passenger brought his own alcohol and after being asked to stop drinking, he got aggressive.
“He was left alone once he stopped drinking but his behaviour was getting worse.
“He started threatening passengers around him, in particular a man with a small child sat behind him and in front of me.
“The cabin crew stepped in asking him to calm down. He continued swearing and shouting until cabin crew and passengers restrained him.
“He punched his own dad who is seen on the video trying to calm him down.
“His father sat on the other side of the plane at first and came round when he saw what was going on.
“He was trying really hard to calm his son down and seemed to be mortified.
“He (the drunken man) got arrested once we landed.
“It all started with the cabin crew telling him to stop drinking in the first place but he refused and kept drinking.
“He seemed to be very intoxicated, slurring his speech and could not walk straight.
“All this after him drinking what seemed like an almost finished bottle of whiskey.”
Social media users were quick to condemn the individual for his actions.
One said: “I don’t know why the sale of alcohol isn’t banned on flights, when some people act this way.”
Another wrote: “Why do people keep doing this lately?”
A third commented: “Everyone should have a breathalyser before boarding.”
A fourth added: “Before long we will need security on planes.”
Speaking today a Ryanair spokeswoman said: “The crew of this flight from Luton to Kaunas (13 Aug) requested police assistance upon arrival after a passenger became disruptive in-flight.
“The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained this individual passenger at Kaunas. This is now a matter for local police.”
