PREVIEW – Kit Brookman – The Stones

Deadline Fringe Previews

AWARD winning playwright and director Kit Brookman’s play comes to the Edinburgh Fringe for 2022.

Nick, who is in the middle of a personal crisis after breaking up with his boyfriend, reluctantly takes a job tutoring two young children in an old house in Sussex.

Everything seems to be going perfectly, the job is going well and the family he’s working for almost seem too good to be true. That’s until the stones start to arrive.

Sharp, funny and unsettling, The Stones is an intimate yet expansive solo performance starring Luke Mullins.

Brookman’s plays have been widely performed in Australia – where he is originally from – as well as in the USA, Germany and the UK including plays such as Whalesong and Close.

The London-based playwright and director has won or been shortlisted for most major playwriting prizes in Australia, and in 2019 was longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize.

The play stars actor Luke Mullins, who is one of Australia’s leading theatre artists.

Luke’s work boasts a broad-spectrum of performances from his creation of acclaimed solo works such as Disappointment and Autobiography of Red to award-winning performances at all of Australia’s major theatre companies.

His work also extends to the UK including productions with The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Bath, Home Manchester, and his Offie-nominated performance in Tennessee Williams’ And Tell Sad Stories of the Death of Queens.

Audiences can find the play downstairs at Assembly Roxy running from the 8th-29th of August.
