To laugh and to drink. There is not much more you can ask for in life. At least that’s what The Thinking Drinkers aim to prove in their 10th anniversary at the Fringe.
UK’s sole colonists of alcohol-friendly comedy, Ben McFarland & Tom Sandham, give an original edge to the ordinary but symbolic British pub quiz.
The audience battle a quiz alongside five drinks of their choice as allies.
Meanwhile, the pair, ironically enough, takes you on a journey of alcohol’s significance on all parts of everyday existence – from the ordinary to the extraordinary and the regular to the bizarre.
Speaking on the act, one half of the duo, Ben McFarland, said: “The pub quiz is an iconic, intellectual, elbow-bending institution but we’ve taken it to a higher level.”
His partner-in-crime, Tom Sandham, added: “Some people reckon that drink can decrease the number of brain cells but our Pub Quiz is sure to perk up your prefrontal cortex and increase them…probably.”
Last year, the award-winning pair’s book was named Drinks Book of the Year by The Sunday Times.
Show-goers will be provided with a complimentary variety of fine beverages.
These include flavoured gins, renowned lagers, exotic rums, iconic whiskies along with quality mixers and botanicals selected by taste masters.
Line your stomach, turn on your intellectual face and head to The Thinking Drinkers Pub Quiz from the 5th of August at Underbelly, Bristo Square.
