A FAMILY’S beloved pup was ‘almost killed’ after McDonald’s chips made her throat swell.
Luna had an allergic reaction to the fast food fries after chancing her luck and pinching a few chips whilst owner Joe Delacoe had his back turned earlier this month.
Just moments after swallowing the chips Luna’s face, throat and nose began to swell, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Within minutes, the nine-month-old Sharpei was almost unrecognisable and her face ballooned causing her eyes to close over.
Joe’s sister Becky quickly rushed Luna to the vet where they immediately administered a steroid injection as well as giving little Luna some piriton.
Thankfully Luna’s reaction quickly died down but vets told 27-year-old Becky they had her treated just in time.
Midwife Becky shared the story to TikTok yesterday writing: “Luna 0-1 McDonald’s.”
The video has now collected over 291,000 views with more than 7,000 likes and 190 comments from users who were glad Luna recovered.
One member wrote: “Oh no bless her, I hope she is ok.”
Another said: “I hope the swelling goes down and gets better soon. My boy had an allergic reaction his lips blew up and he had hives all over. It is scary when it is their face.”
A third added: “At first I thought your dog got stung by a bee or a wasp.”
A fourth replied: “I thought the poor f****r had a fight with a bee’s nest.
“But McDonald’s, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Speaking today Becky said: “Luna is nine months old, it just happened at home, she pinched a few chips when my brother’s back was turned.
“Within a few minutes her face blew up and her eyes were so swollen that they shut.
“Her eyes were rock solid and so my brother called me and we took her to the vets and they gave her a steroid injection and piroten.
“Within a few hours she could open her eyes again slightly and by the next day she was completely fine and beautiful again.
“The vet said it was definitely an allergic reaction from the chips as it happened almost instantly and they said we are lucky we got there in time as her throat had started to swell.
“This was also blocking her airways as her nose was so swollen and she was making a loud snoring sound and she couldn’t see anything because her eyes were so swollen.”
