SCOTLAND’S 5G centre has announced a new key appointment as they aim to expand their senior leadership team.
Vinny Bryson joins the team as Operations Director, supporting The Scotland 5G Centre (S5GC) as it launches a network of 5G innovation hubs across Scotland.
Since its first three S5GConnect hubs in Dumfries, Dundee and Forth Valley, The Centre has continued to expand the S5GConnect Programme, with the recent announcement of two further hubs in Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
As Operations Director, Vinny plays a critical role in the daily operations of the Centre in alignment with its values and mission, implementing the Centre’s strategy and developing its long-term plans for the future.
Beginning his career as a Royal Navy Warfare Officer, Vinny went on to join Scottish Water, primarily managing corporate performance.
Following this, Vinny held a number of senior positions within the world of sport including Director and Chair of Scottish Archery, responsible for governance and risk management.
He then took up the position of CEO of Scottish Fencing, where he focused on modernising the organisation; forming alliances with government and regulators in order to ensure inclusion and equality in the sporting world.
Over the lockdown period, Vinny chaired the Scottish Governing Body CEO Forum which engaged directly with the Scottish Government and the Sports Minister to navigate the route out of lockdown for sport.
Speaking on his new role, Vinny said: “I am truly humbled to join the team at S5GC.
“In my first few weeks my colleagues have been so welcoming and also given me a real insight as to the transformative power of 5G and how it can improve and change people’s lives for the better.
“Whilst there are many things which excite me about the organisation, that aspect is most compelling.”
“I want to make The Centre an amazing place to work and the one-stop for all things related to advanced connectivity – with people at the heart of it all.”
Paul Coffey, CEO of the Scotland 5G Centre said: “Vinny’s wealth of experience and strong leadership makes him an excellent addition to the Senior Management Team.
“The Centre has built up considerable momentum, playing a pivotal role in the adoption of digital connectivity.
“Vinny’s role will accelerate the delivery of our network of S5GConnect hubs and further 5G use cases across Scotland, highlighting the transformational benefits that 5G technology brings.”
