A FAST food wholesaler is expanding its business in Scotland with a move into a nearly £2m industrial estate unit.
Fish and chip shop supplier and fast food wholesaler T.Quality is looking to increase its presence in Scotland as it moves into a new £1.9m logistics unit redevelopment.
The business is making the move into Hillington Park, Scotland’s largest industrial estate, following its recent acquisition of Glasgow-based food service operator Morrison’s Foodservices in March.
T.Quality previously traded from a 10,000 sq ft unit at Hillington Park, but will now move into the newly redeveloped 22,540 sq ft facility at 1 Carnegie Road after works completion at the end of May.
The business says the new site will bring with it 20 new jobs, with further expansion planned in the coming months and years.
The business, which was founded in the 1920s in Hull, now operates twelve distribution centres around the UK and supplies and delivers a variety of products to fast food outlets, care homes and the wholesale fishmarket industry.
The completed £1.9m Carnegie Road redevelopment at Hillington Park will see the 1950s site turned into an energy efficient, modern logistics unit with new internal offices and a redesigned and enlarged service yard that meets modern HGV usage standards.
The redevelopment will reportedly reduce energy consumption by 79% compared to the building’s previous condition through enhanced insulation, LED lighting, air-source heat pump efficient heating and removal of gas appliances.
Works are being undertaken by Insite Contracts with EPC Associates being Project Manager for Frasers Property.
Mike Crees, Managing Director of T.Quality said: “We are delighted to be able to move into our own customer logistics facility following our acquisition of Morrisons Foodservice.
“The new site in Hillington Park is the largest of all our depots and shows the exciting potential and plans which we will be laying down in Scotland.
“The site and our acquisition of Morrison’s Foodservices is truly a game changer for how we will operate in Scotland and really is an exciting opportunity for T. Quality.
“We will be able to add further capacity to our operation which will see us deliver to the whole of Scotland, but it will also help enhance our customer service levels with increased delivery dates.”
Grant Edmondson, Commercial Director at Hillington Park said: “It was a bold move by Frasers Property to commit nearly £2m to speculatively redevelop this 1950’s building but we were confident that a high-quality scheme would let quickly.
“There remains a gap in the Glasgow industrial and logistics property market for modern, energy efficient warehousing of this size which is reflected in the speed that T.Quality acted when we made this new property available.
“Working with T.Quality has been a pleasure. We’re delighted to facilitate their expansion and retain their business for the long term at Hillington Park.
“It gives us confidence to undertake further speculative industrial and logistics developments at Hillington Park over the next couple of years.”
Current occupiers at Hillington Park operate in a wide range of sectors including construction services, manufacturing, engineering, retail, technology and the public sector.
