Gourock based commercial property specialists, Bowman Rebecchi and Rebecchi Architectural have been formally appointed by the Ardgowan distillery to help them realise a new custom gin plant.
Last year the Ardgowan distillery announced plans for a new bespoke centre for gin distilling, to be built in advance of their whiskey distillery, following a loan of up to £5m from Distil plc.
The site will include production facilities and a visitor centre, with the first gin to come later this year, the facility will create at least four long-term local jobs.
The news comes after the announcement last summer of an £8.4m investment in the business by majority shareholder Roland Grain.
The investment allows Ardgowan to commence construction of their one million litre single malt distillery and visitor centre due to start production in 2023.
Plans are now advancing to develop the centre using existing buildings on the site at Bankfoot near Inverkep with Rebecchi Architectural appointed to spearhead the refurbishment.
The new venue will be home to Distil’s Blackwoods gin an award-winning gin infused with Scottish botanicals.
In December the Distillery unveiled plans for a new distillery and visitor centre based on a Nordic longhouse design.
Martin McAdam, CEO at Ardgowan distillery said: “Wherever possible, we intend to work with local firms and recruit local people to deliver our plans.
“We have already recruited staff locally and we plan to expand the number of Inverclyde suppliers we use as the development begins.”
Marco Rebecchi, a director at Bowman Rebecchi and Rebecchi Architectural commented: “Inverclyde has significant opportunities available for developers and investors and we are excited about the proposals and final development plans for the Ardgowan Distillery.”
