Rangers superfan creates footie-inspired “mini bars” from old fire extinguishers

A RANGERS superfan has created unique footie-inspired “mini bars” from recycled fire extinguishers.

John McNamara, from Glasgow, claims that his bespoke fire extinguishers, complete with optics attached to the side, have been flying off the shelves.

The 36-year-old heating engineer uses decommissioned extinguishers and has been adding Rangers inspired images onto the metal.

The products tend to come in two forms – either operating as a mini bar or a drinks display piece and have been selling for £60 – £120 each.

Although most of the products John customises are Gers related, the Scot has also customised items for Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen fans too.

One of the personalised Rangers extinguishers, which includes poppies, soldiers and ‘Lest We Forget’, has been causing a stir online among social media users.

The item includes the text “Showbiz & Karen” alongside two drinks optics and a window in the middle with blue lights illuminating inside.

John’s Facebook Marketplace listing was shared on Twitter on Tuesday by a baffled social media user, Oliver de Beaumarchais.

He wrote: “Found this on Facebook Marketplace. There is a LOT going on here.”

The post has since gained over 200 likes and dozens of comments from social media users.

One Twitter user said: “They’re selling it?! What if your name is neither Showbiz nor Karen?”

Another replied: “Unbelievable Jeff. I want this. Why do I want this?”

And a third joked: “When a hypochondriac loves flaming shots.”

Meanwhile, on John’s Facebook page, possible customers cannot seem to get enough of his unique idea.

Aileen Murdoch said: “That’s actually a great idea!”

Ian Mclean wrote: “Absolutely fantastic work.”

Nicola Docherty commented: “How much is this? Need Xmas present for my bro.”

Speaking today, John said: “It was really just a wee lockdown project to keep me busy as I like making stuff and I noticed a lot of people were building pubs and bars in their back garden.

“I thought that these would be a good idea to showcase in their bar or in their hot tub area. I’ve made loads of stuff over the past few years for gardens and whatnot.

“I’ve obviously made more Rangers ones as I know a lot of Rangers supporters, but I’ve done products for Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen fans too.

“The products are all sprayed and the decals designed by myself, and business is booming!

“It’s been brilliant so far, I’ve not had a bad review or anything and all my customers seem to love them.”
