Scottish political party leader blasts education system for apparent indoctrination

A SCOTTISH political party has blasted the state education system for indoctrinating “controversial” ideas such as feminism and climate change.

Richard Lucas, head of the Scottish Family Party, uploaded the video onto the party’s Twitter page on Tuesday.

In his video, the former Physics teacher at Merchiston Castle School said: “Does it seem to you that your school is trying to turn you into a feminist, BLM, equity climate changer, feminist, LGBT political activist.

“If it does feel that way well that’s because that is probably what your school is trying to turn you into.

“More efforts seem to be going into telling you what to think instead of teaching you how to think.”

He continues: “Now it doesn’t really matter what you think about those issues that’s not the point here.

“The point is that they’re controversial, schools shouldn’t be used for indoctrination.

“What you are taught at school in Scotland is probably pretty well in tune with the Green Party policies.

“Now, we hope you can see that and we also hope that you are fed up with it and we also hope you are going to do something about it.

“Complain to your school about it, tell us your stories of what you get taught at school.

He finishes his video, saying: “Vote for the Scottish Family Party because we’d fix it.”

Since sharing his video on Tuesday, the video has received a split opinion on Twitter from social media users.

The Scottish Libertarian Party backed the views, writing: “It’s like complaining about the food at a restaurant and then keep taking your kids there and stuffing their faces with it.

“Stop inflicting state education on your children.”

The majority of the comments left on Twitter did not agree with the views that were expressed on the video.

Twitter user @Tam16827173 posted: “So by your logic, if something is controversial then it equates to indoctrination?

“Critical thinking challenges cultural norms and assumptions alike.

“If an idea is damaging, it should be challenged, whether liberal or conservative.

“You want to limit freedom of speech not expand.”

@GreggyGaGa commented: “Sure, because there’s nothing wrong with teaching kids morals and treating every student about respect for their fellow humans.

“Your party has no place in modern day Scotland.

“Your agenda is flawed and has hatred at its core. Foul.”

Mr Lucas and the Scottish Family Party made headlines last month after claiming responsibility for projections made onto a sexual health clinic which said: “Unborn Lives Matter.”

Projections were shone onto the Chalmers Sexual Health Centre in Edinburgh and sparked outrage amongst pro choice campaigners and visitors.

Speaking about the projections at the time, Mr Lucas said: “Our pro-life message is a key element in our policies and we will continue to present it boldly throughout the election campaign.

“They are just straightforward expressions of compassion toward unborn children.”

Mr Lucas dodged being struck off the teaching register earlier this year after he was being investigated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

The teaching body decided that he could stay on the teaching register after looking into comments he made about same sex parenting.

The Scottish Family Party also made headlines earlier this month after announcing that a former gay porn star would be running as their regional candidate in the Highlands and Islands.

Philipp Tanzer – who starred in several adult films such as Rear Deliveries under the name Logan McCree – will represent the party in the May elections.
