ASOS branded “irresponsible” for suggesting brunch hours after vaccine

ASOS has been branded “irresponsible” by social media users for suggesting that customers should go for brunch within hours of getting their vaccine. 

The online fashion giant made the controversial comment whilst tweeted a picture of a model wearing a shoulder less gold summer yesterday.

They wrote: “When you have the vaccine at 12 and brunch with the girls at 2.” 

Since sharing the post, the retailer has been bombarded with criticism for suggesting that customers should drink shortly after getting their Covid-19 vaccine. 

Some fuming social media users have branding the company “irresponsible” while others have threatened to boycott the retailer.

UK Government guidance currently advises vaxxers that they may experience side effects within the first couple of days and should rest up if necessary.

The controversial ASOS tweet has had over 300 likes and more than 500 comments since it was posted last night.

@danjackson wrote: “You can’t have the jab and drink in the same day.”

@11Fayefaye11 said: “This is a really irresponsible post on so many levels and from the reaction from others, I’d take it down.” 

@nickynoble added: “Won’t be shopping with you again!” followed by an angry emoji.

And @MrsAllOTT commented: “What is this madness?

“Not everyone can have the vaccine and not everyone is going to choose to have it. Very disappointed in this.”

The UK Government website guidelines read: “Although you may get some protection from the first dose, having the full recommended course will give you the best protection against the virus.

“Very common side effects in the first day or two include: having a painful, heavy feeling and tenderness in the arm where you had your injection, feeling tired, headachy, aches and chills.

“You may also have flu-like symptoms with episodes of shivering and shaking for a day or two. However, a high temperature could also indicate that you have COVID-19 or another infection. 

“You can rest and take the normal dose of paracetamol to help make you feel better.”
