Scots bin man dubbed “Usain Bolt” after being filmed running from huge rat

A SCOTS bin man has been dubbed “Usain Bolt” after a hilarious video emerged showing him sprinting to safety after spotting a massive rat.

The video shows two Glasgow City Council workers screaming and fleeing away from the rogue rodent which was hidden inside a large bin.

In the clip, the men are filmed hauling a large silver bin to the rear of a bin lorry outside student accommodation at Cooperage Place in Kelvinhaugh, Glasgow.

The duo are busy loading the communal bin into the vehicles mechanical arms which hoist the bin into the rear of the truck.

As they do this, one of the workers suddenly appears sheepish before deciding to jog away from the bin.

The man can be heard yelping as the huge rodent gets close to him.

The other workman continues with the job and continues directly the rubbish into the hydraulic system.

However, just as the bin begins to be emptied, a lone rat falls from underneath the bin as it starts to tip into the lorry.

The workers all scream in horror as they dodge the evading rat.

One of them can then be heard shouting: “Watch! Watch”

In the background, the first man who spotted the rat is shown picking up the pace and running away yelping as the rat runs in his direction.

The rat had been happily living amongst the rubbish.

The cameraman is heard warning his colleague, shouting: “Watch it’s going for you!”

Footage of the scene was shared by Facebook union page GMB Branch 40 who captioned their video: “Rats have become a common occurrence in cleansing more so over the last years.

“But now and then they can give you a laugh, listen to the GMB cleansing workers reaction is priceless.

“Brilliant keep up the good work.”

Alongside the video, the Union page posted a video from GMB Convenor Chris Mitchell who said: “There has been a massive increase in rats within the service since the pandemic started last March.

Cooperage Place in Kelvinhaugh, Glasgow.

“We have been campaigning to get more resources into cleansing to stop this rat infestation.

“But there is humour attached to this sometimes, so we are going to show a video of our two workers when they come across a rat.
