Shocking clip shows learner driver Facetiming while out on driving lesson

A SHOCKING video captured the moment a learner driver was caught using her phone to FaceTime while out on a driving lesson.

The dash cam clip shows the learner driver using their phone, which is on handsfree mount, to FaceTime as she waits at a roundabout.

The driver was caught in the act by motorist Bil Deeley yesterday while travelling through Cannock in the West Midlands.

36-year-old Bil posted the shocking footage onto Facebook, writing: “Learner driver starts a FaceTime Video call while out driving untaxed car in Cannock.

“Then the passenger fobs me off…if not for that, I wouldn’t have posted this, well done.”

In the video, Bil can be seen approaching a small roundabout in Cannock.

He then comes to a stop behind silver Citroen which is sitting at the giveaway lines at the roundabout.

The Citroen has a learner sticker in the rear window, highlighting a learner driver is behind the wheel.

The learner driver can be seen using their phone which is docked on the dashboard of the car.

They can be seen using their phone to initiate a facetime call, Bil can be heard saying: “This learner driver is messing with her phone, she is Facetiming someone.”

Despite the roundabout being clear, the driver sits at the giveaway lines and continues to use their phone.

Bil then beeps his horn and the learner driver surges forward across the roundabout, as their passenger flips him off.

Bil’s wife then says: “Looks like a baby on the screen.”

Bil later replied to his post saying: “Not interested in grassing them up, each to their own.. the misses and I were just gobsmacked.

Bil was flipped off by the passenger in the shocking clip.

“It was a learner, on FaceTime and the full licence holder flicking us off.

“Horn wasn’t intended as aggressive, just merely a ‘Hello..we can see what you’re doing.”

Facebook user Alan Palmer commented on the clip: “ I know not everyone is interested in being a grass but distracted drivers are incredibly dangerous and need to be removed from the road.

“I doubt this is the first time this person has done it, this evidence could make it the last time.”

Speaking today, Bil said: “I can really say is that my partner and I were gobsmacked to see this.

“There’s the possibility the person in control of the vehicle wasn’t actually a learner, despite displaying L plates, but initiating a video call while driving is poor.

“Everyone knows you don’t do this, surely?!

“I politely as possible made them aware ‘we can see what you’re doing’ only to be flicked off by the passenger.

“Awful behaviour, we all have to share the road and be considerate to other road users.”
