This may mean a birthday cake as well as a Christmas cake, presents wrapped in birthday paper instead of festive paper and birthday decorations, but the double effort is worth it to see the smile on their face. Try a birthday experience instead of a party

Let’s face it, many of us are partied out around Christmas. With Christmas parties, family gatherings and gift exchanges with your friends, it’s easy to understand why. Instead of throwing a birthday party, why not opt for an experience instead.

That might be a fun park for the youngsters or a cooking class, wine tasting or spa trip for the adults. You could even date the experience for the summer so they have something to look forward to once all the Christmas festivities are finished. Transform the Christmas tree into a birthday tree

What better way to celebrate a December birthday than to decorate the Christmas tree in balloons and streamers for the day! They’re sure to appreciate all the time and effort it takes to take one set off for another and vice versa. Plus, it’s a really nice and genuine sentiment that will set their birthday apart from Christmas. Whatever you do, don’t forget to ask the birthday boy or girl what they want to do

They may really love having a Christmas birthday and enjoy all of the twinkly lights and decorations, but they might not. Speak to them about what they want to do and how they want to celebrate their big day. You never know, they might be really looking forward to a hot chocolate and a Christmas film or decorating a gingerbread house with the whole family.

December birthdays can be challenging, but there’s no reason why they can’t be separated from Christmas. With so many things to do and different ideas, they’re sure to get the best of both!
