JOSH GINNELLY will resume training with Hearts on Wednesday morning following his positive Covid-19 test.
The winger, who earned rave reviews for his goal-scoring cameo in last month’s Scottish Cup final defeat against Celtic, missed the subsequent games against Ayr, Arbroath and Dundee after contracting the virus.
His mandated 10-day period of isolation expired at the start of this week, however the Jambos were given Monday and Tuesday off by boss Robbie Neilson.
That means Hearts – who have resumed Covid testing protocols for the time-being after a second, unnamed player also returned a positive – will welcome Ginnelly back on the training pitch this morning.
The on-loan Preston winger will be assessed by Hearts’ medical and coaching staff before a decision is made on his availability for Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against the winners of Camelon Juniors versus Brora Rangers.
Speaking last week, Neilson explained: “It [Covid] affects people differently. Josh feels a bit fluey, a bit stiff, a bit sore.
“But I’ve spoken to him he’s in good spirits and desperate to get back in again.”
