THIS is the moment a cyclist appears to fake an accident in what could be the least convincing “crash for cash” set up ever.
The video, captured on a taxi’s dashcam in Dublin on Thursday, shows the cyclist slam against the car in an apparent attempt to gain compensation.
The incident prompted strong words from the taxi’s passenger, who branded the cyclist a “stupid c***”.
As the video begins, the taxi is seen driving through The Liberties area of the city.
As it approaches a junction, the cyclist starts heading towards the vehicle.
As the car waits on the yellow hatched markings, the cyclist’s bike starts wobbling towards the bonnet.
With the vehicle completely stationary, the cyclist seems to throw himself into the front of the car, groaning loudly.
He rolls around on the bonnet, yelling out in “pain” before getting up and gesturing to the driver.
A woman in the taxi shouts: “He’s acting the b*****, you’re acting the b*****!”
The cyclist looks around before whipping out his phone to take the vehicle’s details.
The woman shouts again: “He has you on video, acting the b**** doing that, you stupid c*.”
As he cycles off the woman calls after him: “You’re a stupid little b******.”
The clip was shared widely across social media by viewers angry at the brazen attempt.
Patrick Dineen wrote: “Calling him a cyclist is an insult to cyclists. He’s a scammer/criminal, using a bike. (He’s also other things, which the passenger in the car so eloquently called him).
Peter Boyle added: “Outrageous and I hope he gets nicked and they check for similar false claims.”
And Frank Dempsey said: “I want to lift the audio of that woman so I have it ready if anyone tries this on me. As for the guy on the bike, I hope he’s found and prosecuted. What a little b*******.”

Several people pointed out the taxi was going the wrong way down a one way street.
However, Rachel Franny wrote: “Even if the driver was driving up the side of a building, the point of the video is to show that the ‘young cyclist’ was trying to pull a fast one.”
A Garda spokeswoman said: “There are no reported incidents on our records that would reflect this incident”.
