JAMES Corden has shared a young fan’s Gavin and Stacey themed version of monopoly that she created whilst bored in lockdown.
15-year-old Saskia Finn-Davey, from Guernsey, spent two days painstakingly designing and making the game, which features many of the show’s famous locations.
Her efforts were so impressive that Gavin and Stacey star Corden, who plays Smithy in the show, retweeted her designs to his 10.8 million followers on Twitter.
Pictures show Saskia’s handmade game bearing properties such as “Dave’s caravan” and “Gwen’s House”, with the priciest property and Mayfair equivalent as Barry island where the show is set.
Player’s must pass the “Oh what’s occurring?” square in homage to Ruth Jones’ character Nessa and her infamous catch phrase.
Participants can also take a community chest card just like in the real game, but with a distinctive Gavin and Stacey twist.
One card reads: “You go on a fishing trip with Bryn, go back three spaces” in reference to one of the show’s longest running jokes.
A delighted Saskia took to social media to share her creation last Thursday [16 Apr].
She tweeted photos of the game with the caption: “So I’ve made my own Gavin and Stacey Monopoly.”
Her tweet not only caught Corden’s attention, but earned her heaps of praise from other fans.
Angela Crowley wrote: “Oh my god I love this.”
Katie Gregory added: “That’s awesome. Gavin and Stacey must be my favourite tv show! I’d definitely buy that!
And Liv Spencer said: “Please get this actually made I want one.”
Speaking today, Saskia revealed she still had some way to go with the project.
She said:“It took me most of yesterday to make. I still have to make the place cards and figures which I’m doing today.”
“I’m a massive fan.
“I’ve been taking part in all the online pub quizzes and have watched it loads of times, to the point my parents are saying you’re not watching Gavin and Stacey again. Let’s just say I love it.
“I was really shocked, I didn’t expect it to get recognised this much.
“I just tagged the cast randomly and didn’t think anything of it and was really shocked when James Corden retweeted.”
