SHOCKING video shows a beggar deliberately doused with coffee by a callous motorist at traffic lights.
The van driver waits until the lights turn green before emptying a cup of cold coffee in the man’s face and on his upper body.
The victim of the attack flinches as he sees what is about to happen and then stands helplessly as the attacker races off.
The cruel incident was captured on camera in Finchley, north London, on Monday morning.
Andy Booth, 56, who was in his car behind the van, was outraged and posted the footage to social media.
The lorry driver, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, wrote: “The guy standing at the lights on the right is a beggar, not an aggressive beggar, always polite and grateful if you do pop him a few coins.
“Did he deserve a cup full of coffee thrown at him like that?”
Andy added: “Unfortunately I didn’t get the van reg and dont have the software to do it either. What a t***.”
Andy explained that he saw the victim of the attack later in the day, who explained what had happened.
“He was OK, thankfully,” said Andy. “The coffee was cold.
“I’m going to see if he’s there tomorrow, if so I’ll stop and have a proper chat with him, find out if he’s ok and if there’s anything we ,the FB community, can do to help.”
The video shows Andy sitting at a set of traffic lights. The beggar can be seen standing at the side of the traffic lights.
The white van can be seen sitting stationary, waiting on the traffic lights changing, with the man standing beside the vehicle.
The van sits for a few moments and as the light turns green slowly begins moving forward,
As the van passes the beggar, the driver throws the cold coffee.
Andy passes the man, and can be heard: “What a b******.”
Mark Morris-Knowles responded online: “Dreadful behaviour…as that old saying goes…there but for the grace of God. Why do that to someone!”
Chris Blake, referring to a type of camera that records number plates. posted: “Lovely assault there…If you know the road I’m sure there will be an ANPR camera on it. Pop the video to the police and hopefully they can catch the driver.”
Speaking today, Andy said: “I have passed this guy a few times and I have given him change a few times, it seems to be his spot.
“I thought it was disgusting. I have reported it to the police and I hope they are able to catch this guy.
“I hope to get in touch and start a Facebook page or crowdfund to get this guy some help.”
