AN Aberdeenshire ice cream company has scooped a new supply deal with Asda supplying two of its ice cream lines.
James Rizza & Sons will be selling its Double Salted Caramel and Raspberry & White Chocolate Chip in the retailer’s Scottish stores.
The two new 500ml products will join the three-star Great Taste award-winning Double Dairy Gold ice-cream which Asda has listed since 2002.
“Rizzas was established in Huntly in 1914 and we are a fourth-generation family run ice-cream manufacturer,” explains Donald Morrison, Director, James Rizza & Sons.
“We are delighted to continue our relationship with Asda, with the introduction of two new ice cream flavours. We employee over 35 staff and these new listings will not only lead to increased sustainability for the business, but also to the creation of new jobs.
“At Rizza’s we really value the wealth of high quality and delicious ingredients we have in Scotland.
“Our Raspberry and White Chocolate Chip uses locally sourced Scottish raspberries and milk. It’s been a very exciting time for the business.
“Earlier this year we rebranded all our products and invested in plastic free packaging on all our 500ml and 1l lines – so we’re thrilled to secure these additional listings to end 2019 on a high.”
Heather Turnbull, Regional Buying Manager, Asda Scotland Local added: “We have excellent working relationships with some of the best suppliers and growers across Scotland – and James Rizza & Sons is a perfect example of this.
“It’s fantastic to have the promise of great-tasting locally sourced ice-cream on shelves for our customers to enjoy.”
