A GRUESOME gran blew away the competition at her Halloween costume competition by sticking a knife through her bruised and bloody head.
81-year-old Ann Paton left no room for the squeamish at her guild bash with the get up, which has gone down a storm on social media.
Ann, from Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, also worked in a joke by wearing half a kilt in reference to her being “half killed”.
Photos show a bruised and bloodied Ann glaring at the camera with her arm in a sling.
A bloodstained, plastic knife protrudes from either side of her head. She also has bloody cuts and very realistic bruising on her face.
Ann was helped to create the grisly costume by granddaughter Devlin Greig, 25, who was on hand to apply the lifelike face paint.
She sent Ann off to the party at St.Andrews and St. Marnocks Guild, where the outfit went down an absolute storm.
Devlin was so pleased with the result she took to social media to share her gran’s creativity.
She posted photos of Ann with the caption: “My gran wins Halloween again, 81 year old and thought of it herself ‘hawf kilt’.”
The post, which has clocked up more than 8,000 likes online, has amazed social media users.

And Michael Brendan Coyle agreed with Devlin saying: “She defo did.”
Speaking today, Devlin said: “She thought of it all herself, she’s quite imaginative.
“She borrowed the kilt from a neighbour and held it up with braces.
“I did the make up using different shades of eyeshadow and fake Halloween blood!
“We’re both shocked at the reaction. At 81, my gran doesn’t use social media apart from when I show her how to see photos on Facebook!
“She said when she walked in to her guild Halloween party everyone clapped and she won a box of chocolates for best costume.”
