Internationally recognised entrepreneur, television presenter and motivational speaker, Amar Latif, is to lead the Fife Tourism Conference 2019 as keynote speaker. Latif will be joined by a host of well-known speakers on Friday 15 November 2019 during the annual event.
Renowned within the tourism industry, Amar’s life experiences have helped shape his career. Despite having lost 95% of his sight at the age of 19, Amar hasn’t let this hold him back from achieving his goals and has managed to turn what could potentially have been seen as a tale of loss, into one of truly inspirational achievement.
Since founding Traveleyes in 2004, the world’s first commercial tour operator to specialise in holidays for blind as well as sighted travellers, he has won several awards for his entrepreneurial achievements.
Taking place at the Fairmont St Andrews between 8:45am and 2pm, the conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to learn from experts in the tourism industry while networking with like-minded businesses and discovering new opportunities.
Speakers include Peter Jordan from Toposophy, who will highlight emerging consumer trends in the travel industry and the opportunities these bring; Stephen Whitelaw, who will speak about the future of digital tourism; and Paul Alexander, CEO of leading customer insight company Beyond Analysis, who will speak to delegates about the benefits of using data to build powerful business travel propositions.
Organised and hosted by Fife Tourism Partnership, with support from VisitScotland and Fife Council, the conference will inspire delegates through a number of focus sessions. Attendees will learn more about the use of augmented reality apps in tourism, how to maximise tourism opportunities around the Fife Pilgrim Way and be treated to a preview of the upcoming Fife tourism campaigns, set to launch in 2020. Guests will also hear from Jannettas Gelateria, a local family business which has run for more than 100 years across four generations.
Amar Latif commented: “I have always been passionate about travel, but I also know that the tourism industry hasn’t always been hugely accessibly to those living with disabilities – this is why I’m so thrilled that the Fife Tourism Conference has chosen someone like me (a blind guy!) to open for them.
I am really excited to have been invited to share my story – from founding Traveleyes to presenting nationally-broadcasted travel documentaries – and I’m particularly looking forward to exploring new ways of creating innovation and growth with everyone in attendance.
Ann Camus, Tourism Partnership Manager at Fife Council, said:“We are delighted to welcome Amar Latif to Fife for our annual conference and I’m sure he will leave all of our attendees feeling inspired and motivated to grow their business. Our conference always proves to be a popular event in the tourism diary and I’m sure this year will be even better than last.”
Caroline Warburton, VisitScotland Regional Leadership Director, said: “The Fife Tourism Conference is a chance for the region to come together and discuss how to make the most of the area’s offering. With a host of top speakers, I hope the event will act as a platform to inspire Fife’s tourism industry to develop ideas to grow the visitor economy.
Tickets for the Fife Tourism Conference are available to purchase online for only £35. Beginning at 8:45am, with breakfast served from 8am, the event will finish at 1:45pm with a networking lunch.
