What Is the Future of MMA? How Will the Sport Progress in the Future?

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has definitely seen more than just fighters from separate disciplines showing which one’s better than the other. MMA has been through a lot of changes over the past few years and with the world constantly changing, they won’t be the last ones to get on board.

One of the things that the future of MMA might hold is cryptocurrency. As much as it is changing other aspects of the world, it might also change the future of MMA. For some, these are two wholly different things, absolutely far from each other.

In this article, we’ll be talking about how cryptocurrency might affect the future of MMA and what might its progress be for the next decade.

Cryptocurrency for MMA

One might find it odd how cryptocurrency made its way towards MMA. But just like how it was dropped so casually by Satoshi Nakamoto back in 2008, cryptocurrencies have not-so-subtle ways of getting in any industry.

As you might know, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin can now already be used to make purchases. For some industries, key players even demand this as a form of payment.

They’re all quite reasonable, considering that the value of Bitcoin is now over $8000 and might even go higher. Who doesn’t want to get paid with that much potential, right?

Times are changing and people have to adapt to it. Sooner or later, cryptocurrencies might even become a common currency to use.

Funding and Sponsorships by Crypto Companies

If there’s one thing MMA needs, it’s a clear source of funding – may it be company compensation or sponsorships. In this section, we’ll discuss how crypto helps MMA progress towards the future.

Sponsorships

Over the past few years, crypto companies have explored the idea of sponsoring various popular people to advertise their brand and they have recently explored MMA fighters.

For MMA, sponsorships can be quite important. After all, these sponsorships pay a huge amount of money to these professionals.

As crypto companies rise from the ranks, they’re getting more and more capable of sponsoring teams and athletes to advertise their brand.

In 2018, two famous fighters in MMA struck deals with companies. The first being Michael Chandler, former lightweight champ, who struck a deal with an online crypto exchange, CoinLion.

This crypto exchange has its own coin called Lion, to which Chandler says that it’s a way to have more control.

Rory Macdonald has also been wearing merchandise from a brand he represents – Dash. This crypto company has also risen fro the ranks and is making a name for itself in the crypto world.

As you see, the future of MMA sponsorships and compensation is starting to take one foot into cryptocurrency. As crypto gains value, all the more will MMA benefit from it.

Reality TV

The progress of MMA also depends on those who are willing to adapt to changes – may it be style in fighting or something else.

Reality TV Show, Fight to Fame, has its own way of helping MMA progress into the future. This reality TV show invites various professional fighters to compete in a series of assessments. The winner of the competition signs and becomes a movie star.

Being publicly broadcasted, the show reaches a bigger audience and this might just help convince people to try out MMA, stemming inspiration from what they’re going to watch and taking a chance at this sport.
