Aberdeen laundry service expands with acquisition of Glasgow business

Aberdeen Laundry Services is expanding its business with the acquisition of family-run professional laundry service providers, Cathkin Clean Scotland.

The purchase has been supported by a £275,000 funding package from Royal Bank of Scotland and marks the next phase in the company’s growth plans.

Aberdeen Laundry Services is the largest independent supplier of commercially laundered items in the north and north-east of Scotland, offering linen hire, industrial garments, textiles restoration and dry cleaning.

The acquisition has secured the employment of 20 existing staff members, with the business employing a further 10 people.

The acquisition of Cathkin Clean Scotland will allow the business to broaden its capabilities and geographical spread, thanks to Cathkin’s experience servicing niche market areas in local government, the defence industry, healthcare and transport sectors.

The acquisition has secured the employment of 20 existing staff members, with the business employing a further 10 people to meet increased demand for services.

Mr. Surendra Khandelwal, Director at Aberdeen Laundry Services, said: “We’re pleased to be expanding our business with the acquisition of Cathkin, a successful family-run business, which will allow us to broaden our geographical spread and offer a cross section of laundry services to the whole of Scotland. We’d like to thank Royal Bank of Scotland for supporting our growth plans through this acquisition.”A

David Snell, Senior Relationship Manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Aberdeen Laundry Services is going from strength to strength and its success is down to the hard-work and planning of the Directors, Surendra Khandelwal and David Ashton. We are proud to support this business and wish the team all the best with their expansion.”
