Cunning chef reveals genius hack for making Chicken Kiev and garlic bread – at the same time

A CUNNING chef has shared her hilarious “life-altering” hack for making chicken Kievs and garlic bread at the same time.

Maria List’s genius trick simply involves placing each nearly-cooked Kiev on a slice of white bread in the oven.

As the chicken finishes off cooking for five minutes, the garlic butter soaks into the bread, which is baked to a lovely golden colour.

The 29-year-old from Beccles, Suffolk, got the trick from her fastidious father in law, who used bread to stop dripping butter getting burned inside the oven.

His serendipitous discovery has amazed social media users as her post has racked up more than 35,000 comments and 17,000 shares.

She captioned her post: “Anyone else put a slice of bread under their chicken Kievs. So it soaks up all that juicy garlic butter and you get a nice slice of garlic bread to go with it.”

The first image shows four chicken Kievs on four separate slices of bread all placed on a baking tray.

Subsequently, Maria – who calls herself “the Garlic Kiev lady” – then took a photo of the bread, which has now become toasted, has become soaked with all the juices which came from the Kiev whilst cooking.

She revealed how the bread must be turned over half-way in the oven, so both sides are coated in the garlicky juices.

Thousands of Facebook users took to the comments to reveal how impressed they were with this new hack.

Kelly Knights said: “I never knew that thanks for the new trick babe.”

Emma Harrison commented: “What a good idea! That’s my tea sorted for tomorrow.”

Elisa Rosekrans said: “We had chicken mignon for dinner, I did this with them tonight. Hubby was in awe, he thought it was the most amazing thing on earth.

Definitely will be doing this in the future!”

Nancy Grantham commented: “Wow amazing trying this!”

Anj Hoad said: “Oh my how did I not know this already lol.”

Billie Amber Saunders commented: “What this is life changing. Wtf Maria you’ve made my life.”

Speaking today, Maria said of the inventor of the technique: “He was annoyed the garlic butter always ended up in the tray so he decided to use bread to soak it up.

The response has been insane, I’ve had over 1200 friend requests/friends of friends in America picking it up. I’ve loved how everyone has responded to a good old food hack.

Seems everyone was just as annoyed as my late father in law about losing the butter.”
