HIBERNIAN winger Martin Boyle has undergone surgery as he embarks on the lengthy road to recovery from a devastating knee injury.
The Australia internationalist went under the knife on Tuesday afternoon after sustaining a torn lateral meniscus during Hibs’ 2-0 Betfred Cup win against Elgin on July 26.
Boyle is unlikely to feature again for the capital club before 2020.
It was a particularly cruel set-back for Boyle, given he had only recently completed his rehabilitation from the same damage, which was initially sustained on international duty with the Socceroos in January.
Hibs are set to bring in Rangers winger Glenn Middleton on loan from Rangers to fill the substantial void left by Boyle’s absence.
