PREVIEW: Two classic British forms of theatre combine in this pantomime for grown-ups – it’s so bard it’s good!

(c) Shakespeare! The Panto

‘Shakespeare! The Panto’ promises to be a side splitting flashback to the 16th century, where the Bard of Avon is holding auditions for his newest show – a pantomime.

Can he deliver a career-saving performance in the face of treachery, where vicious rivalry abounds and people are not what they seem…? Filled with bawdy humour and featuring familiar characters like Iago and Portia, this show fuses classic pantomime with the works of the nation’s best-loved playwright. So bard it’s good!
The University of Bristol Pantomime Society have been making audiences laugh with their pantomimes containing an adult twist for almost 30 years! After a year away from the Fringe they are coming back to Edinburgh with a new version of one of their best-loved productions.
With an original script by co-director Flora Snelson, Shakespeare! The Panto delighted audiences in Bristol with its witty puns and gleeful parodies. Now with some exciting new additions to the cast and production team, along with stars of the Bristol run, the University of Bristol Pantomime Society are coming to dazzle the Fringe-goers with this uproarious show.
