EDINBURGH singer/songwriter, Ross Arthur released the music video for his new single ‘Soar’ today, which features locations around East Lothian and the capital.
Ross Arthur, 22, has been performing since he was 13, and has previously supported popular Scottish act Kyle Faulkner (The View).
The single was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Christian Wright, whose other credits include Ed Sheeran, Radiohead, Kylie, and The Vamps.
Scenes for the video were filmed at popular tourist attraction Camera Obscura World of Illusions, and the abandoned East Fortune Hospital in East Lothian.
The hospital was closed to patients in 1997 and has been abandoned ever since. In the video lots of old furnishings can still be seen in the derelict building.
Speaking today Ross said: “Soar is about parting ways from someone who you loved, the raw emotional side of suddenly being in a completely new place but also about simply wanting to see them happy.
“With the choruses I wanted to have a dance scene in a majestic venue. Originally I had planned to use Mcewan Hall, and the top of forth rail bridge – but the engineers were too busy when I was filming the video to let me up.
“So then I thought of Camera Obscura, and it was a great place to film the flashback scenes in the video, it has that wonderful rooftop view so we got some good footage of the Edinburgh skyline.”
The video stars Ross Arthur and up-and-coming actress Ashley Sutherland. It was shot and edited by renowned photographer/ videographer Andrew Perry.
Ross’s single is now available to stream or download.
