A FIVE-STAR country estate in Perthshire is building on its reputation as a sustainable tourism business with the news that it now has six electric car charging stations on the estate.
Mains of Taymouth in Kenmore, near Aberfeldy, have installed the charging points by E.ON Drive as part of its Electrifying People’s Journey strategy.
Senior Project Manager from E.ON Drive, Adrian Ellington, was on hand to oversee the installation which are part of a push to create one of Europe’s largest charging networks.
The company estimates that by 2020 it will have a network of over 180 ultra-fast chargers throughout Europe that charge a 400km range car in around 30 minutes.
With its popular courtyard shop, restaurant, golf course and holiday accommodation, Mains of Taymouth is a well frequented stop off for holidaymakers and tourists in the area.
Mains of Taymouth’s General Manager, Pauline McLaren, said of the installation: “As an award winning tourism business that does its very best to be green whenever possible, we are delighted to have these charging points installed.
“More and more motorists are switching to electric vehicles. We have visitors and holidaymakers who come from all over the world, and may have hired electric cars to explore Scotland, so we will put the word out locally that we have this provision now.”
