Perthshire chocolatier launches UK’s first audio guided tasting experience

An award-winning Perthshire chocolatier has unveiled a unique “first of its kind” chocolate tasting experience.

Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier has launched his chocolate tasting “flights” at his shop in Grandtully near Pitlochry.

Customers will be able to enjoy a range of interactive, audio-guided chocolate flight tastings as an introduction to his range of handmade chocolate truffles.

The experience will allow visitors to sit down a sample of his chocolate presented on a tasting mat and is then given an informative view of Iain’s experience as an accalimed truffle specialist, followed by staged insights into five very different artisan chocloates.

Iain, who established his family business in 2005, hopes the idea will help to boost tourism in the region.

The Highland Chocolatier shop has won the International Chocolate Awards two years running in 2015 and 2016 for his “Dark Sao Tome” velvet truffle

Iain Burnett CEO of the Highland Chocolatier

Iain Burnett, CEO and Creative Director at Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier, said: “I’m delighted to announce the launch of our new ‘Chocolate Tasting Flights’, and I believe we are the first gourmet chocolatier in the UK to offer this unique experience.

“We’ve been trialing this over the past year, improving and refining the guided experience in response to feedback from our customers, so that when we officially launched them, they would be amazing.

“More and more people are now looking for an experience rather than a transaction, and the new Chocolate Tasting Flights bring together the special tastes and textures of the Velvet Truffles, combined with the educational experiences that we are trying to share through our Chocolate Lounge, exhibition, shop and kitchen viewing window.

“It’s a natural evolution that gourmet couverture chocolate, itself like fine wine, should have its own pure chocolate flight.

Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier’s new Chocolate Tasting Flights can be enjoyed in Grandtully, priced at £15 per person, or ordered online to be enjoyed at home for £21.95 based on two people sharing.

Chocolate Tasting Flight sets include Velvet Truffles, a tasting mat and audio guide link.
