Hearts:
Zdenek Zlamal: Had little to do for much of the game but when he was needed he made a costly misjudgment in bringing down Odsonne Edouard for the penalty. Dived the right way for the spot kick but unable to keep it out. 5
Michael Smith: Had a difficult job up against the tricky Michael Johnston and then Scott Sinclair but put in a solid shift. 7
John Souttar: His raking cross field passes put his team on the front foot at times. Played his part in keeping Celtic at bay for over an hour but both he and Berra switched off Edouard’s decisive strike. 6
Christophe Berra: Made a crucial early interception in the box from Johnston’s delivery and won his fair share of aerial battles. His positioning for winning goal was questionable. 6
Aaron Hickey: Great composure in only his second start. Kept player of the season James Forrest quiet and ensured the Bhoys had little luck down the right flank. 8
Arnaud Djoum: Misplaced pass in first half led to Celtic counter but bailed out by Souttar. Was involved heavily in build up to Hearts’ goal. 6
Peter Haring: Showed courage to take the ball in tight spots in midfield and went close with a second half half. Put in a tireless shift before being replaced. 7
Ryan Edwards: Had Hearts fans dreaming of cup glory with his opener from close range. Was in the team due to his energy and he left everything on the pitch. 7
Jake Mulraney: Was Hearts’ biggest threat on the left flank and although his crosses caused panic there was no finishing touch. 8
Sean Clare: Played the back heel for Edwards to give Hearts the lead. Worked his socks off but would have liked to have had a bigger influence in the final third. 7
Steven MacLean: Did his best to occupy Celtic central defenders Jozo Simunovic and Kris Ajer in what was a demanding role up front. Linked well on occasions with Clare but had little to feed off. 7
Substitutes:
Craig Wighton (Clare): Struggled to make an impact as Hearts chased the match 4
Uche Ikpeazu (MacLean): The imposing striker ruffled the Celtic defence when he came on but had no joy in front of goal. 4
Oliver Bozanic (Haring) Came on the dying stages but unable to influence the final result. 4
