Bird makes Great Tit of itself trying to fight its own reflection in campervan wing mirror

HILARIOUS video shows a bird make a Great Tit of itself by trying to fight its own reflection in a wing mirror.

The Great Tit performs circuits of the wing mirror as it tries to get at its imaginary rival.

The video was captured by retired children’s reporter Evelyn Grant from Inverness whilst she was at Kilmartin in Argyll with a friend on Monday.

Evelyn, 62, posted the video to the popular Facebook page ‘Scotland from the Roadside’ on Tuesday captioned: “Ok, so where is that other Great Tit hiding?”

The bird was continuing to hover around the wing mirror for over three minutes before Evelyn and her friend stepped in to try and stop it from tiring itself out.

The bird can be seen poking its head over the wing mirror looking confused as to where the other bird went.

The video has been met with hysterics in the comments.

Penny Riley said: “Come out and fight like a man!”

Gaye Bell added: “I’ve seen dogs do this, but never a bird!”

Karin Lamprecht wrote: “Super video, I hope the poor thing didn’t end up toooooooo frustrated by one of our inventions.”

Leslie Prince- Hernandez said: “Judging from the state of the poo, this is something he does a lot.”

Kathy Sparks added: “My mother-in-law lives with us and the birds have been doing that to our cars too! Bird poop all over the mirrors, windows and doors.”

Evelyn today said the bird was hovering around the wing mirror for over three minutes.

Evelyn said: “I spotted the bird at the mirror on several occasions so I watched to see what it was doing. It came back several times to attack the invader – each time for two or three minutes.

“This attack lasted about three minutes though I trimmed the video to just over one.

“I was first curious, then amused, but finally concerned about the amount of energy the wee soul was putting on to defending its territory against itself.

“So after seeing it coming back again we turned the mirrors in. It was still around but not driving itself demented!”

The Great Tit is the largest bird in the Tit family with a wingspan of 24cm. The Great Tit is known to be aggressive around the bird table according to the RSPB.
