Shocking moment reckless driver injures elderly occupants of car then escapes on wrong side of road

SHOCKING video shows a reckless driver injure two elderly people by crashing into their car – before speeding away from the scene.

The dashcam footage shows a black Vauxhall Vectra crashing into a red Ford Ka with enough force to set off its airbags.

Despite causing chest and shoulder injuries to a 79-year-old man in the Ka and a head injury to his 77-year-old female companion, the Vectra driver causes more danger by escaping on the wrong side of the road.

Police in South Yorkshire released the video of yesterday’s incident in the Sheffield suburb of Waterthorpe in a bid to help track down the culprit.

Both occupants of the Ka needed hospital treatment.

The video shows the Vauxhall Vectra turning right onto Eckington Way and is slammed by the Ford Ka stopping both vehicles in their tracks.

The force the impact jolted the Ford Ka’s back wheels to hover in the air whilst the Vauxhall Vectra spins out.

The Ford Ka is left in a heap in the middle of the road whilst the Vauxhall Vectra drives off cutting across oncoming traffic and back into the correct lane. Airbags can be seen deployed in each car upon impact.

The clip has angered many people in the comments who are blaming the Vauxhall Vectra driver.

Sharon Billam said: “How could you sleep at night knowing what has happened [to] them poor elderly people I hope for god’s sake and [the] family they are both ok.”

Vicki Anson-Bowie added: “Hope the old couple are ok what an absolute waste of breath that driver is it’s disgusting.”
