Heartwarming moment worker jumps from van to give his lunch to homeless man

HEARTWARMING footage shows the moment a worker jumps from his van in traffic to give his lunch to a homeless man.

The kind-hearted gesture was captured on dashcam in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, by Ross Hudson.

The 27-year-old from Durham uploaded the video to Facebook with the caption: “This happened Thursday last week.

“Good deed done – a young lad giving his lunch to homeless.”

The short clip shows queueing vehicles, one of which is a white works van.

The passenger door opens and a man who appears to be in his 20s gets out and walks over to a man sitting outside a church.

He hands over a packet and then returns to the vehicle. The homeless man waves as the van drives off.

One viewer wrote under Ross’s post: “I do this regularly. Far too many look down on the homeless but in reality most of us are only one payday away from being in the same position.”

Another wrote: “There’s always one at a Tesco express in Ashton-under-Lyne.

“Every time I pop in I grab him his usual four cheese meal deal. Good lad trying get back on his feet.”

Speaking today, Ross said: “I was just surprised when I saw it as I didn’t know who it was as he was sitting outside a church.

“I didn’t get a good look at what he gave him but he had a sleeping bag with him.

“It was a good deed what the young lad did helping the homeless.”

Ross uploaded the clip on Facebook

Earlier this year an elderly lady was filmed handing out hot chocolate and sandwiches to the homeless in bitterly cold conditions.

The clip showed “Diana”, 72, giving hot drinks to two very grateful people in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
