BREACH Theatre’s historical drama It’s True, It’s True, It’s True is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year after their sell out shows in 2018.

The show returns as part of the British Council showcase before embarking on a UK tour.

The courtroom drama about the trial of Agostino Tassi, who was accused of the rape of Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi in 1612 is based on actual transcripts from the time but performed in modern language.

Featuring an all-female cast, It’s True, It’s True, It’s True firstly seems like a tale of female empowerment in the face of a male-dominated society, but soon testimonies emerge of all-too familiar situations for twenty-first century audiences.

The drama asks the question: how much has really changed in the past 400 years?

The critically acclaimed drama emerged in the cultural aftershock of the #MeToo movement which was felt by audiences across the country.

It’s True, It’s True, It’s True will perform between  16th – 26th August at the Underbelly. Tickets can be purchased from the Underbelly website.
