McCain’s stick Capaldi’s mug on a packet of Potato Smiles

The chart-topper’s resemblance to the starchy snack hasn’t gone unnoticed.

A FOOD firm have stuck Lewis Capaldi’s face on a bag of potato smiles after the Scottish star joked he looked like the popular snack.

McCain’s photoshopped an image of Capaldi on to a bag and then posted the image online.

The word “smiles” has been replaced with “LewiSmiles” and the hilarious post was captioned “Some spud you loved” in a reference to his hit song “Someone you love”.

McCain pitched the packaging to the Scottish singer.

Speaking on the Capital FM Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning, Capaldi had listeners in hysterics when he said: “I get that I look like a potato smiley a lot. Do you think it’s nice to be told you look like a potato snack?

“It’s a horrible thing to be told.”

This echoes a tweet he posted back on March 20 when he uploaded an image of himself smiling much like the face on the potato product.

Twitter users loved the McCain’s mock-up, including @_chloeh who wrote: “My life is complete.”

@gavwid1 joked: “Supper sorted for the moro night.”

@Tammileigh3 commented: “Canny wait to dip ye in some ketchup.”

@emscorner said: “Please be real.”

However, one user, @swaaan, noticed a slight flaw in the McCain’s comeback by saying: “Missed a trick not captioning it ‘some spuddy you loved’. Disappointed.”

Lewis Capaldi has risen to fame in recent months following his chart success with “Someone You Loved” which reached number one.

The singer, from Bathgate, West Lothian, is due to release his debut album next month.
