A UK food group has raised £117,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through soup sales and staff fundraising.
Baxters set a target of raising £100,000 in their 150th anniversary year but this was surpassed thanks to fundraising soup-erstars.
Staff at Baxters’ sites across the UK coordinated a range of fundraising activities which included skydives, bungee jumps, raffles and race night events.
In addition to staff efforts, a limited edition on-pack promotion saw a proportion of sales from Baxters’ ‘Favourites’ line donated to the charity.
Audrey Baxter, Executive Chairman at Baxters, said: “We wanted to partner with a charity that our staff, customers and consumers would feel passionate about supporting and Macmillan Cancer Support was the ideal fit.
“The whole team here at Baxters really got behind our fundraising efforts and played their part, with each site smashing their targets.”
The money raised will fund one Macmillan nurse for 25 months who is able to support 350 people who are living with cancer.
Laura Foreman, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said: “We are funded almost entirely by donations, we simply cannot support the growing number of people who need us without the continued generosity of the public and partners like Baxters.
“We are thrilled that with their help we can continue to support people living with cancer to live life as fully as they can.”
Macmillan’s Information and Support centre at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh is where patients, families and carers can access expert information about treatment, practical advice and support around living with a cancer diagnosis and signposting onto other services.
