CALLUM PATERSON has revealed that he has undergone successful surgery to repair a serious ankle injury.
The 24-year-old suffered the damage after 37 minutes of Scotland’s uninspiring 2-0 victory against San Marino on March 24, limping off in Serravalle to be replaced by Marc McNulty.
He was swiftly ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, dealing a major blow to Cardiff City’s hopes of English Premier League survival.
Paterson’s was a cruel irony, given he had sat out the previous fixture against Kazakhstan due to fears that the artificial surface at the Astana Arena could cause an injury due to his previous cruciate knee ligament issues.
The former Hearts subsequently went under the knife on Monday to repair the damage and took to Instagram in the aftermath of the procedure to update supporters, complete with a picture of himself looking somewhat dazed.
“Op went well,” he wrote. “Obviously enjoyed the in this pic! Looking forward to starting this rehab and get back playing.”
Former teammates Jamie Walker, James Keatings and Arnaud Djoum were among those who wished Paterson well following the operation.
