AN ABERDEENSHIRE parlour is challenging ice cream lovers to handle the heat as it launches its first hot ice cream.
Mackie’s of Scotland’s 19.2 parlour, based in Aberdeen’s Marischal Square, will welcome the fiery creation this Monday on a first come, first served basis.
Those looking to be one of the first to sample a scoop will need to be quick, with just three napolis of the dessert available for tasting.
Pauline Macleod, New Product Development Technologist, said: “Although hot, the new addition to the parlour has all the elements you would expect from Mackie’s – including our own creamy chocolate as the basis for the fiery treat.
“We had another few ideas in the pipeline but we thought that this would really get tongues wagging – and not just from the heat!
“As with any of our creations, if this proves to be a hit then we’ll consider putting it on the menu permanently.
“With limited amounts of the dessert available next week, make sure you pop in and set your taste buds alight before it’s gone!”
Mackie’s 19.2 is no stranger to experimenting with flavours, having brought out a Brussels Sprout ice cream last Christmas and a Haggis and Marmalade ice cream for Burns Night.
The 19.2 team is 12 strong, and all staff members are on the Real Living Wage.
As well as a wide range of ice cream, 19.2 serves coffee from local Aberdeen-based Caber Coffee and features two centrepiece chocolate taps – one white and one milk – delivering Mackie’s own highest quality melted chocolate on demand for serving over its desserts.
Named 19.2, the parlour is located exactly 19.2 miles from the Mackie’s Westertown family farm, where it produces its renowned ice cream and chocolate ranges.
