A THUG who was caught on CCTV robbing a pensioner of his car at knifepoint has been jailed for four years.
Daniel York pointed the blade just a few inches away from the chest of his terrified victim, aged 70, grabbed his keys, and then drove off.
But security cameras at Broomhill Service Station in Downham Market, Norfolk, recorded the robbery and helped put York, 20, behind bars.
Yesterday, York, who had earlier admitted two counts of robbery and possession of a bladed article on January 10 this year, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court.
The video shows the pensioner begins to walk towards the shop at Broomhill service station to pay before being confronted by York.
He can clearly be seen pointing a short blade directly at the chest of the pensioner.
York, from Lynn, Norfolk, appears to be demanding the pensioner’s keys as a tussle ensues for control over them.
York carries on even as another driver gets in to their car and the neighbouring pump.
The pensioner eventually gives up his keys and watches as York calmly gets behind the wheel of the car.
Detective Inspector Bruce Clark, from King’s Lynn CID, said: “These were very serious offences which caused distress to the victims who were threatened at knifepoint while going about their business.
“York’s decision to plead guilty ultimately showed the weight of evidence against him and it’s equally pleasing his victim’s did not have to relive their experiences by giving evidence in court.
“As a result of poor decision making, York now finds himself behind bars for four years.”
Also on January 10, York threatened a female worker at JD Sports and stole numerous items in King’s Lynn.
York has also been banned from driving for three years after driving a vehicle without insurance whilst being disqualified.
