DRAMATIC footage shows a defiant shopkeeper grab a knife-wielding robber and push him out in to the street.
Despite having a long-bladed weapon pointed at his throat from a few inches away, the fiesty shopkeeper shows no fear and launches a counter-attack.
He grabs the startled robber with two hands and pushes him backwards with great force out of the door.
The incident is believed to have happened at Patsons News in Batley, West Yorkshire at around 5.30pm yesterday.
The brave shopkeeper attacked by the robber is known as Habib Patel.
Habib’s brother today said that is recovering at home.
He said: “He’s [Habib] is not able to work today. He’s terrified. He recieved a cut to the ear and was attacked with a knife last night.
“He thought he was a normal customer asking for cigarettes, but the man was caught.”
The video was posted on a local Facebook page last night saying: “Attempted robbery just now Patbro (Batley town) If anyone recognises him please let any of the Patbro brothers know.”
The CCTV footage showed a man wearing a hat and a large puffer jacket approach the shop counter.
The assailant then unzips his jacket and pulls out a large weapon thrusting it towards the shopkeeper.
A struggle then starts between the attacker and the shopkeeper as they both wrestle in the middle of the store whilst the attacker tries to jab the shopkeeper.
However, the shopkeeper was able to gain the upper hand and pushes the attacker back towards the entrance of the shop.
He slams the attacker into the shop door and then throws him out of the store with the attacker seemingly running away from the scene.
The video has shocked many locals, but have commended the shopkeeper for his bravery.
Darren Gregson said: “ Shopkeeper soon sorted him out.”
Claire Fox added: “Good on him he was very brave. Now I know why the police were in Batley.”
Lindsay Hunter wrote: “Good on him I know the brothers well I’ve been going in that shop years. Its awful, hope he’s ok.”
Sabeela Shahzad said: “Too close to that knife. Glad he’s not hurt.”
Katryna Baszynski added: “[It] was [the] paper shop on Branch Road, not Bradford Road, I live above the shop.”
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives have arrested a man following a robbery in Batley yesterday afternoon.
