VIDEO shows a reckless “scrap van” driver almost knock over a pedestrian, drive on the wrong side of the road and run a red light – to save waiting about 50 seconds.
Rather than wait in a short queue at lights, the van driver decides to overtake and comes close to hitting a pedestrian crossing the road.
Undeterred, the scrap man continues on the wrong side of the road and blocks the junction while cars turn right.
The driver completes his trio of traffic offences by going through the red and turning left.
The clip was taken last Friday by Adrian Ormsby, on Wyther Lane, in Kirkstall, Leeds.
He subsequently posted it to a Facebook group for dashcam footage taken in the UK, writing above it in a caption: “Scrap man has his own rules of the road.”
The clip begins with dashcam footage showing Adrian driving past various business on Wyther Lane, towards the junction with Broad Lane.
Early on, the footage shows the scrap van sitting at a junction on the right, ready to turn right onto Wyther Lane.
Adrian drives past the van and waits behind the line of cars towards the traffic light junction.
On the right, a man begins to cross the road when suddenly the scrap van, travelling on the wrong side of the road, nearly hits him – not even slowing down.
The man continues crossing, but keeps looking back at the van throughout, obviously concerned.
The van then drives up to the junction, still in the wrong lane, as the cars on the left lane, rightfully cross the junction.
He waits till all of the cars have gone, and the light turns red, then brazenly pulls out while another car from the right is signalled to go by a green light.
The scrap van turns left, going through the red light, as Adrian waits 50 seconds for the lights to change, and continue on his journey.
Speaking today, Adrian said: “It’s a shame the police weren’t about.”
Facebook users were bemused over the incident.
One user said: “Pedestrian didn’t know what to do. It probably caught him off guard.”
Another user said: “It’s certainly different.”
