Topless man caught on video running amok in midnight machete rampage gets almost four years jail

A THUG who was caught on camera running wild with a machete and threatening to decapitate passers-by has been jailed for almost four years.

Sean Matthew was filmed by a terrified neighbour as he brandished a huge blade and screamed: “I’m going to rip your heed aff ya dafty.”

The 32-year-old stripped to the waist before running amok in Springburn, Glasgow, just before midnight on November 29.

Matthew was sentenced to three years and nine months in jail this week after pleading guilty last month at Glasgow Sheriff Court to culpable and reckless conduct and committing threatening and abusive behaviour.

The clip showing Matthew with the sword was posted to Facebook by Julie McVey-Giblin.

She captioned the post: “Daily life of Springburn, kicking off, Someone running about with a machete (Balgrayhill flats). Apparently smashing cars too.”

Taken Julie’s high-rise flat looking onto the road, the video shows Matthew pointing the sword out and saying: “I’m going to cut your heed aff ya dafty”

He then enters a tower block with the machete as a voice close to the camera can be heard saying, “He’s running into them flats isn’t he?” as the clip ends.

A Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service spokesman said: “Sean Matthew appeared for sentence on 5th March and was sentenced to three years imprisonment and nine months imprisonment to be served concurrently.

“He was also made subject to a Supervised Release Order for a period of 12 months after his release.”
