UCHE IKPEAZU has assured Hearts that his best is yet to come as the towering striker confirmed that he is set to commit his future to the capital club
The 24-year-old is in advanced talks regarding a new contract at Tynecastle as he enjoys a fine debut campaign in Gorgie, emerging as a firm fans’ and acting as an attacking focal point for Craig Levein’s side
He penned a two-year deal when he joined from Cambridge United last summer, however, Levein is keen to reward his swift development
And Ikpeazu has revealed that he expects an agreement imminently, insisting Edinburgh is the perfect place to continue his progress.
“We should get something sorted out soon,” he confirmed. “I think this is the right club for my development. I still think I’ve got a lot to learn and the manager [Levein] has been brilliant to me. He’s been really patient and honest.
“The other week, when I wasn’t at the races, he told me. It’s important that the manager tells you the truth and I went home and was like: ‘I need to perform, I need to do better’.
“The fans have been very patient with me in games when I haven’t scored or haven’t performed and this does feel like home. I love the city, I love the fans, I love my teammates. I’m really enjoying my time here and I genuinely believe the best is yet to come.”
