Shocking video shows kids allowed to hang out of car being driven at 30mph in congested street

SHOCKING video shows two young children hanging out of a car as it is driven at 30mph in a street full of parked cars.

The youngsters’ heads, arms and upper bodies are exposed on the kerb side of the car as they lean out, coming within a few feet of parked vehicles.

The kids, who are almost certainly not wearing seatbelts, were filmed in Falkirk by an appalled taxi driver travelling behind.

Ian Kennedy posted his footage to social media where it was described by one viewer as “child endangerment”.

Ian was driving in the town’s Windsor Road yesterday afternoon (tue) when he spotted the red Citroen Picasso ahead.

As Ian drives closer to the Citroen he notices that there is something sticking out of the car window.

On closer inspection it appears to show two children poking their heads out of the moving car.

With one in the front seat, and one the back they both wave their arms out of the vehicle as one of the kids looks back towards Ian.

One kid had their head out of the window for around 30 seconds as the Citroen turned left at a junction.

The child can be seen gesturing to Ian as he drives passed.

Jodie Meredith responded online: “This comes under ‘child endangerment’.”

Paul Mcfarlane added: “There’s no way that kid’s wearing a seatbelt.”

Suze Barton wrote: “I watched a horror movie as a kid, think it was a Hammer House of Horrors one, and this bloke lost his hand in an accident, he had it out the window. Never did stick my arms or head out after that.”

Ian said today: “I was shocked. Obviously not wearing a seatbelt. The wee brat stuck his tongue out at me.

“The one in the back is definitely not wearing a seatbelt. The one in the front I am not sure.

“It’s frightening seeing parents allowing this behaviour, especially this street as it is really bad for parked cars. All it takes it one mistake.”

Ian, in his original post, reminded viewers: “Highway Code states, ‘When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly.

Don’t allow your pet to ride with its head hanging out of the window, as it’s potentially dangerous and can cause injury’.”

This comes after a mother was banned from driving after allowing her kids to stick their heads out of the back windows of her car.

Mum Stefanie Oakley allowed her children to dangle headfirst out of her Skoda “for a bit of fun” last July in Hathersage, Derbyshire.

Oakley told officers that she was “driving slowly” and the incident would “not be concerning if it was another era”.
