The matches that mattered | Results that have shaped the career of Paul Heckingbottom and the former Barnsley and Leeds boss takes up the reins at Easter Road

Following Paul Heckingbottom’s appointment as the new Hibernian head coach, we look back on some of his most memorable games in the dugout.

Barnsley 3-2 Oxford

Heckingbottom masterminds Football League Trophy success in the Tykes’ first cup final appearance since 1912. Ironically, Heckingbottom’s opposite number was Michael Appleton, who was also a candidate for the Easter Road vacancy. Over 59,000 fans are at Wembley to see former St Mirren player Adam Hammill net the winner.
