Jamie Murray describes Ramsey’s £400k-a-week Juventus move as “football…well and truly gone”

TENNIS ace Jamie Murray says “football has well and truly gone” in the wake of Aaron Ramsey’s £400,000-a-week Juventus transfer.

Grandslam champion Murray took to Twitter to voice his opinion on the Arsenal star’s lucrative summer move to Italy.

Murray, a Manchester United fan, tweeted: “Aaron Ramsey signs for Juventus at £400,000 a week. The game has well and truly gone.”

Jamie Murray’s career earnings are estimated at £4.3m, a sum Ramsey will earn in 11 weeks playing in Turin.

Murray appears to disagree with the amount Ramsey is set to earn

Iannic70 responded to the post, saying of Ramsey: “Best thing is, he’s not even that good.”

Bud932 added: “Football gone mad. Not even that great a player.”

Clublmports wrote: “He’s good, but he’s not THAT good!”

TheMarkCarrick said: “@juventusfcen must be desperate or stupid. He’s nowhere near being that good.”

However, some people are comparing Ramsey’s reported wage to their own.

One social media user revealed her own salary to put the fee into perspective

Wotsupalg added: “That would take me 10 years and I think I’m quite well-paid. Certainly I contribute more to society.”

Skyhighangie wrote: “F*** me im a nurse and get £29,000 a year! A f**** year!”

Ramsey is set to join Juventus at the end of this season on a free transfer after refusing to sign a contract extension with Arsenal.

Ramsey last night released a statement on Twitter thanking the Arsenal fans for their support and confirming his pre-contract agreement.

The Welsh star released a statement on Twitter after his new salary was announced

The Statement said: “As you may have already heard, I have agreed a pre-contract with Juventus Football Club. I wanted to issue a personal statement for all the Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive.

“You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the highs and lows I’ve encountered during my time at the club.

“It is with a heavy heart that I leave after 11 incredible years in North London. Thank you. I will continue to give the team 100 per cent and hope to finish the season strongly, before heading on to my next chapter in Turin.

“Kind regards, Aaron.”
