Figures from one of the Fringe Festival’s biggest venues have just been released – indicating that the audience almost doubled in 2018.
Over 950,000 people visited Pleasance venues over the course of the four weeks of the 2018 Edinburgh festival
The Pleasance Theatre Company had venues across three different sites.
More than 550,000 tickets to pleasance shows were issued to Scottish, UK and international guests during the festival period.
Among the best of them were Reginald D Hunter, Felicity Ward: Busting A Nut, and Daniel Sloss.
Overall the Pleasance made up 20% of the Fringe audience from just 8% of the Fringe programming.
In 2018 they also welcomed over 8,000 people to accessible performances at the Fringe, and supported 65 new performers via the Pleasance Futures scheme.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival took place between the 2nd and the 26th of August last year.
