Amazon delivery man opens door without knocking then backs off before “getting eaten by massive dog”

AN angry Amazon customer has posted footage of a delivery man opening the door to his home – only to backtrack when he spots a “massive” dog.

The van driver clearly pulls open a conservatory door and seems set about to wander in when he sees, off-camera, the owner’s Golden Retriever Logan.

The delivery man shuts the door and then goes through a pantomime of knocking the door and ringing the doorbell.

The clip was filmed on Monday at the home in Balidon, Bradford, of 42-year-old Adam Mawson.

Adam, a Graphic Designer, VFX artist and screenwriter, posted the clip to Facebook the same day, writing: “Just making people aware to be vigilant, even an Amazon delivery driver can’t be trusted.”

He added: “He came to ours this afternoon and thought it would be a great idea to try the door before knocking after and then realising we have a massive dog he promptly shut the door – then starts knocking and ringing the bell trying to act all normal, but the door chime gave him away.”

Speaking today, Adam said: “I answered the door after he knocked. We heard the door chime shortly before he knocked which I thought was weird but I didn’t see him open the door so I thought we were hearing things.

“That’s when I decided to check the CCTV.

“I honestly don’t know what the hell he was thinking. He literally just shut the door before my dog ate him.

“I don’t know if he has a criminal record or anything but if I didn’t have the dog and I wasn’t in and that had been my wife on her own – It doesn’t bear thinking about.

The van driver clearly pulls open a conservatory door and seems set about to wander in when he sees, off-camera, the owner’s Golden Retriever Logan.

“The keys were in the door on the other side and the car keys are are on them so I’m thinking he could have thought of taking them then coming back later – while we turn the house upside down looking for the keys.

“He had absolutely no business opening the door. Even if it was to drop the package in the doorway.”

Amazon delivery drivers have been slammed before for similar behaviour.

In December a mum from Calne, Wiltshire was “disgusted” when a driver opened her front door to leave a parcel, and then left the door wide open.

Elyse Young, 26, came back from the school run to find a large box in her hallway and her door left open so that anyone could walk in.

A disabled Amazon customer also released shocking footage in October of a delivery driver ignoring the doorbell, opening his front door, and dumping the parcel inside.

The delivery man shuts the door and then goes through a pantomime of knocking the door and ringing the doorbell.

Nathan Hill, a civil servant from Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire, said he specifically asked for the package to be handed to him as he is unable to reach items left on the floor.

An Amazon spokesman said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and how they serve customers.

“We have taken this incident seriously and have reached out to the customer to ensure the matter is resolved to their satisfaction.”
