Hilarity as author says B&Q model’s “ecstatic” expression is more like “children died in fire

B&Q have been ridiculed online after a Scottish author highlighted the hilarious expression of a model in one of their brochures.

Mhairi McFarlane shared a picture from the firm’s kitchen brochure which shows a couple supposedly ecstatic about their choice.

Referring to the man’s peculiar expression, the author of romantic comedy ‘You Had Me At Hello’, wrote: “B&Q kitchens brochure has confused a ‘delight at new fitted kitchen’ expression with the one you make when told all your children died in an electrical fire.”

Among the hundreds to share, comment and retweet was Lauren Turner, who wrote: “Unable to look at this as I’m in a work meeting and trying not to cry laughing.”

Another Twitter user said: “That makes the ecstatic face of the woman seem real psychopathic.”

John Tumilty said: “Maybe she is a terrible cook and he is gutted they can no longer live on takeaways. Maybe he is the pizza delivery guy?”
