Shocking video shows “traumatised” driver being spun by HGV on M25

TERRIFYING video captures the moment a lorry driver forces a small car to spin on a busy motorway after pushing it towards the hard shoulder.

John Mitchell captured the shocking clip when he was driving along the M25, Junction 26, heading towards Sussex when the incident took place.

The footage shows the silver car driver being pushed sideways and eventually spinning allowing the driver to only see the face of the truck through their window.

John said the driver of the car was “shaken” and “traumatised” after the terrifying ordeal, but was not injured.

The Fedex driver from Dunmow, Essex, was driving down the busy motorway when he captured the frightening incident on November 5

John shared the incident on to Facebook captioned with: “Blind spot accident (car & truck) car driver was very shaken up but all ok.”

The clip begins with John driving down the slip road, which merges onto the M25 before it zooms in to show many vehicles trundling along the road.

As the road nears the end of the of the slip road the cars in front begin to indicate to notify road users they will shortly be merging.

The footage shows the silver car driver being pushed sideways and eventually spinning allowing the driver to only see the face of the truck through their window.

A dark coloured car then moves into the second lane of the M25 and a white car can been driving alongside the big red truck who is following another truck.

The red truck then indicates to move into the left hand lane and starts manoeuvring his way into the spot where the white car who is safely driving along the road.

The smoke can be seen coming from the hatchback as pushes hard on its brakes before it spins driver side onto the face of the truck and carries on for a bit before stopping.

The clip ends with John pulling on to the hard shoulder after the clip he helped the drivers exchange details.

One user wrote: “Many of these incidents are caused by car drivers, in this case I’d say truck driver at fault as he was changing lane.”

Another added: “Regardless of the road layout no one has “right of way”. You can only have priority over another vehicle and even then it takes masses of common sense to actually apply it all.

“Lorry was 100% at fault as the vehicle changing lane is required to ensure it is safe to do so.”

Another said: “Car should have stayed back. Not their right of way.”

John said the driver of the car was “shaken” and “traumatised” after the terrifying ordeal, but was not injured.

Speaking today John said: “The driver is still traumatised and won’t go back on the motorway yet.

“After the clip ends I blocked the lane to allow them to get onto the hard shoulder.

“Then I pulled up behind the car and I got out and went to the car and opened the door and all I saw was the driver sitting there shaking.

“I told the driver to stay put for abit but then the driver had trouble writing because of the shaking.

He continued: “I was with the car driver during the details exchange as they were shaking badly.

“The driver couldn’t write so I wrote the details for the driver. I was in a 18 tonne Fedex truck on my way to Sussex at the time.

“The police weren’t called. It was a peaceful exchange as I made the driver aware of blind spots on trucks.”

Essex Police say the incident cannot be found in their incident log.
